If something is incorrect or missing from your report, you can follow these steps:
1. Contact the bank/lender/local council/court or financial institution directly
Contact the bank, lender, local council, court, or financial institution responsible for the information and ask them to review it. If they agree that the information is incorrect, they can update their records and provide the corrected information to Experian.
Please allow up to 6 weeks for any updates to appear on your credit report.
2. Raise a dispute with credit bureaus
If you’re unable to resolve the issue directly with the organisation that supplied the information, you can raise a correction request through Experian’s CreditConnect portal.
Through the portal, you’ll be able to:
- submit correction requests directly to Experian and the organisation involved
- track the progress of your request online
- view updates relating to your correction request
- see when any changes have been applied to your report
3. If your lender/provider doesn’t agree
Sometimes, the credit provider won’t agree with your correction. If this is the case, they’ll need to provide you with reasons why they disagree.
